* Customers should begin drought monitoring and adjust watering schedules to compensate for reduced rain fall.

* Apply fertilization and pre‑emergent weed control where allowed.

* Inspect for early signs of Grey Leaf Spot fungus during mild mornings.

Pest Control

* Increase monitoring for ants, roaches, spiders, and other general pests seeking moisture indoors.

* Maintain exterior barrier treatments monthly or every other month.

Critical Season for Drought Stress

Lawns are at highest risk. Watering consistency is essential.

Chinch Bug Season

(May–Early Fall)

* Chinch bugs typically appear May or June.

* Damage spreads rapidly overnight.

* Immediate insecticide treatment is required — damaged areas rarely recover fully.

Fungus Season

* Fungicide treatment is offered as an add-on service, in addition to other recommended services for this season.

* Grey Leaf Spot thrives in hot days + mild mornings.

* Fungus spreads through mowing, foot traffic, and pets.

* Fungicide treatments force dormancy but do not eliminate the fungus.

* Once present, fungus remains in the lawn permanently.

General Pest Activity

* Drought drives insects indoors searching for water.

* Increase frequency of interior pest control if activity rises.

* Continue monitoring for chinch bugs & Sod Web Worms until early fall.

* Apply fall fertilization to help turf recover from summer stress.

* Spot‑treat weeds as needed (broadcasting still limited during drought).

Temperature‑Based Herbicide Policy

When temperatures reach 94° or higher, Mantis limits herbicide applications according to product label requirements. Labels are law in the industry, and exceeding temperature restrictions can damage turf. During high‑heat periods, only spot‑treating is performed, and broadcast applications are paused until conditions are safe.
